An organization based in Whitehall, Ohio, dedicated to providing care to those with developmental disabilities, is expanding to Bowling Green. Andrew Developmental Disabilities Services is searching for new Direct Support Professionals in Wood County to provide living assistance to its clients.
Andrew Developmental Disabilities Services is a Medicaid Agency established in 2010 that provides various services, such as non-emergency transportation and residential care to those with developmental disabilities throughout the state of Ohio. After opening an office in Bowling Green, they are now looking for employees interested in the healthcare field.
While Direct Support Professionals are not medical professionals, they are considered healthcare workers due to the nature of the services they provide, like medication administration and wound care. Some responsibilities for Direct Support Professionals include ensuring an individual’s health and safety, accompanying individuals to appointments, meetings and other engagements, and aiding in chores and errands such as shopping.
To become a Direct Support Professional at Andrew Developmental Disabilities Services, one must have a high school diploma, a valid Ohio driver’s license with no more than five points on the driving record, no felony convictions, submit to criminal background checks, CPR and first aid certification and the Department of Developmental Disabilities’ eight hour training certificate, which can be obtained online.
This position may be a good fit for Falcons interested in entering the healthcare industry while studying pre-medicine or nursing at BGSU.
Andrew Developmental Disabilities Services provides paid training.
