BGSU women’s golf stayed on their west coast swing this weekend and returned to the state of Arizona to compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, hosted by fellow Mid-American Conference (MAC) foe, Western Michigan.
The Orange and Brown took to the links against 19 opponents, with five of them being fellow MAC members (Western Michigan, Ohio, Central Michigan, Akron, and Ball State)
The Falcons finished tied for third in the event (893, +29), lead by Addison Kartusch who placed third with an overall score of 218 (+2). The rest of the Falcons finished the weekend strong, with Macie Elzinga finishing tied for fourth at 219 (+3), Sammie Dolch tied for 16th (223, +7), McKenzie Miller tied for 71st (236, +20), and rounding out the Falcons was Shelby Hardwick in 89th (243, +27).
Bradley won the team event with a score of 885 (+21), followed by Xavier (889, +24), and rounding out the top three was Bowling Green and Missouri State at 893 (+29). Xavier’s Isabel Brozena placed first individually, with a total score of 215 (-1).
The Orange and Brown continued their strengths on par fours, finishing with an average score of 4.20, which was a good enough mark for third in the tournament. The Falcons also made 31 birdies over the course of the weekend, which tied Ohio for the best MAC school in that category.
