The Bowling Green women’s golf team wrapped up play on May 17 at the National Golf Invitational. The team took third place in the Mid-American Conference tournament on April 28 before accepting their bid to the postseason. Last year’s team made history as the first team in program history to make the postseason, a feat they have now completed in back-to-back seasons.
The Falcons took 6th place in the 10-team bracket, an improvement from last year’s tenth place finish. Leading the charge for the Falcons was sophomore Addison Kartusch, placing first place individually with a tournament-record score of 209 (-7). Kartusch became the first Falcon in program history to win first overall in postseason play.
Starting for the Falcons were Junior Sammie Dolce, Sophomore Addison Kartusch, Senior Ava O’ Sullivan, Sophomore Macie Elzinga and Sophomore McKenzie Miller. Kartusch, O’Sullivan, Dolce and Elzinga were in familiar territory, participating in last year’s tournament as well.
Kartusch first place finish broke the scoring record for the National Golf Invitational, previously held by Iowa’s Shannyn Vogler in 2023. Kartusch capped off an already successful season, having won MAC Golfer of the Week honors twice during the season as well as All-MAC Second Team Honors.
The Falcons finished MAC play on April 28, with a third place finish behind Kent State and Eastern Michigan. Bowling Green came into the tournament ranked fourth in MAC play. The team had two top ten finishers in Karusch and Dolce. As a team the Falcons shot 862 (+22), while Dolce led the way individually, shooting 211 (+1) after three rounds of play.
