From now to April 3rd, Bowling Green Forestry Division is getting rid of the invasive trees and doing safety pruning in the City Park to preserve the health of the park’s tree canopy.
With this, the city is saying that residents may notice crews and equipment in portions of the park while this work is underway, so sections of the park will be closed off.
These trees are scheduled for removal due to health and structural issues that pose safety risks. These trees can break or collapse, especially during storms and severe weather.
Experienced professionals will trim large trees to remove dead or weakened branches, improving their structural integrity and health. All wood materials will be recycled or repurposed.
In order to preserve and improve the park’s tree canopy, every tree that is taken down will be substituted with newly planted trees in the fall and spring planting seasons ahead.
These replacements will contribute to a varied, healthy and robust urban forest for generations to come.
