National Poetry Month is celebrated every year in April. Here are a few poets who have studied at Bowling Green State University (BGSU).
Jessica Dawn Zinz
Jessica Dawn Zinz is an associate professor in the English Department, teaching WRIT and creative writing courses here at BGSU. Zinz creates art through ceramics, drawings, poetry and embroidery. Recently, she had a poetry comic published by The Art Students League of New York and nine hybrid poems released by Harpy Hybrid Review.

Larissa Szporluk
Larissa Szporluk is an American poet and professor who teaches creative writing courses at BGSU. Szporluk studied and earned degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of California-Berkeley and the University of Virginia. Szporluk is an acclaimed poet, with six poetry books released, including “Virginals” (Burnside Review Press, 2021), “Traffic with Macbeth” (Tupelo Press, 2011) and “Embryos and Idiots” (Tupelo Press, 2007).

Frank Daniel Rzicznek
Frank Daniel Rzicznek is an American author, poet and professor known for his collections of poetry. Rzicznek received a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a master’s degree in creative writing from BGSU. He now teaches English composition here at BGSU. His poetry has been featured in Kenyon Review, West Branch, Blackbird, Colorado Review and the Notre Dame Review.

Holly Amos
Holly Amos is a writer and poet who currently serves as the associate editor of Poetry Magazine. Amos studied and received her bachelor’s degree from BGSU in 2005. Her poems have been featured by the Academy of American Poets and in 2016, she published her book “Continual Guidance of Air.”
