This year, Bowling Green State University (BGSU) was recognized as the only university in northwest Ohio, and one of three statewide, to earn the Highly Established Action Plan Seal from ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.
The university has gained recognition from ALL IN since joining the movement in 2016. ALL IN is a nonpartisan movement that looks to support colleges and universities nationwide in prompting student involvement in politics.
BGSU’s commitment to increasing nonpartisan civic engagement, voter participation and education amongst students is driven by numerous on-campus organizations. The C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement has helped to initiate many programs and active participation in politics for the student body.
The nonpartisan, student-led group known as BGSU Votes played a significant role in increasing student knowledge and skills necessary to engage in areas like policymaking and social action in democracy. BGSU had to meet the criteria in nine different categories to be a recipient of the award. Categories such as the development of goals, evaluation, strategy and reporting.
