Fans of “The Office” came to the Stroh Center on Thursday evening to hear from actor Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute in the sitcom.
At the event, which was organized by the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Office of Student Engagement, Wilson spoke about his time on the show, from how he received the role of Dwight to his favorite episode to film.
In addition, he spoke about his mental health and spiritual beliefs as a member of the Baháʼí Faith. According to Wilson, Baháʼí Faith members believe in the unity of all religions and their teachings.
The topics of mental health and religion are also main topics of his “Soul Bowl” podcast.
BG Falcon Media spoke with several attendees following the event, and each said they enjoyed the event and Wilson’s conversation.
“I really liked it,” said Brooke Moorman, a second-year student at BGSU. “It was really fun seeing how deep he is as a person. How you don’t just have to be funny or deep as a person, he’s both.”
Douglas DeWalt, a parent of a BGSU student who said he traveled hours to attend the event, said, “Seeing him in person, and seeing what he does outside of his character and his life. His other interests, I think, were a surprising element of it. I enjoyed it very much.”
Floor seating for the event was sold out. Much of the upper-level setting, however, was empty.
