TOLEDO, OH- The Toledo Walleye closed out their second week of the season at their home, the Huntington Center, showcasing five BGSU alumni on the rink.
Many Falcon hockey fans are making the trip to Toledo to see the BGSU alumni on the Walleye roster.
“BG has a great hockey program. I wanted to go to BG just to watch the hockey games,” said lifelong hockey player and Walleye ticket operations coordinator Trent Raible.
BGSU student and USG president Emily Gerome, who was at the game Sunday, said she loved seeing the Falcons at the Walleye game.
“I think it’s awesome I think it’s a lot of fun. Keep it local. Keep it in Northwest Ohio. So I love when BG players get to keep playing, doing what they love,” Gerome said.
Falcon alumni’s Walleye jerseys are currently available to purchase in The Swamp Shop, along with other updated merchandise from last season.
“There’s a lot more dead fish logo and a lot more colorful stuff. Pink sweatshirt, purple sweatshirt. We incorporate a lot more different colors besides the Walleye colors,” said BGSU student and Walleye sales clerk, Rachel Cumberledge.
The Walleye are hosting many themed events this season, including a Charlie Brown night in late December, and a “Hockey Fights Cancer” night this Friday.
