Public comments sought as part of BG police accreditation process

As part of an accreditation process, a public portal for community comments about the Bowling Green Police Division has opened.

The collection of comments is as part of an annual inspection conducted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in an effort for BGPD to maintain international accreditation. According to a city news release, “The purpose of this public comment portal is to receive comments regarding BGPD’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for re-accredited status.”

The release indicates the accreditation process provides the city police department “with information to support continuous improvement and foster the pursuit of professional excellence.”

The portal can be accessed online.

Bowling Green State University’s police department earned CALEA accreditation earlier this year.
