The Falcons dropped their final game of the Hoosier Classic, losing to Valparaiso University 12-4. The Falcons lost all four games of the Hoosier classic, getting run-ruled in three of the four games in what was a rough weekend for Bowling Green.

In their second “home” game of the season, the Falcons fell behind early in the first inning. Valpo put up three runs to get the game going. Kim Rodas hit an RBI double to score the game’s first run. Later in the inning, a two-run double was hit by Regi Hecker and Valpo went up three to zero.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Falcons responded with some hitting of their own. With a runner on first, Reagan Williamson blasted her second home run of the season to put the Falcons down by one. Later in the inning with two runners on, Peyton Dolejs doubled to left field scoring two runs and giving their Falcons a 4-3 lead.

The Beacons responded right back, scoring three in the top of the second inning. With a runner on third, Kam Utendorf singled to tie the game up at 4-4. Later in the inning, with runners on second and third, Kayden Krug singled through the right side to score two more Valpo runners to take a 6-4 lead.

Valpo kept chipping away at the plate and continued to apply the pressure by scoring another run in the third inning. With runners on first and second, Emily Crompton singled up the middle to score another Valpo run and take a 7-4 lead.

Walks continue to be a problem on the mound for Bowling Green as Valpo was able to draw nine walks in the contest.

The game got away from Bowling Green in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Alexis Johnson hit a two-run single to go up 9-4 over the Falcons. With the bases loaded up again, Kayden Krug doubled to score two more runners. Valpo kept the bases loaded throughout the inning and with the bases juiced, Wilson worked a walk to take a 12-4 lead over the Falcons.

BG was unable to score in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the eight runs after a five-run rule, the game was final after the third out and the Falcons dropped their seventh straight game of the season.

Next up, the Falcons will travel to Kentucky to take on Morehead State on Wednesday, March 6th, and Thursday, March 7th. Both games are set to start at noon.
