“What I love about being in this band… we all just really make what’s us, we make something really cool with each other, and it feels fulfilling.” said Damien Camacho, drummer of Exit Only, after filming an episode of Live & Loud in the Micheal and Sarah Kuhlin Center. 

Exit Only, an emo-punk band from Toledo, polished off the 2023 season of Live & Loud. Stemming as a creative product of the global pandemic, lead guitarist Selah Carter and bassist/lead vocalist Connor Long found solace in their shared musical motivations in the fall of 2021. 

“After the pandemic hit we were both not doing too great… we met up and started writing music,” said Carter. 

After making music under Exit Only as a duo for almost two years, Carter brought in drummer Damien Camacho in the summer of 2023, laughing that it was “one of the very few instances where showing your demos to a random musician actually turned out to be a really good thing to do.” 

Exit Only found their inspiration from a wide variety of genres ranging from funk, metal, hyper pop, R&B, to rock. They were avid participants in the Toledo/Bowling Green area DIY music scene, playing venues such as Howard’s Club H, Culture Clash Records, and the Ottawa Tavern.
