The BGSU cross country and track and field staff has added a new member to the coaching staff. Rachel Rhynard has been named the Falcons’ new associate head coach and assistant coach, picking up the same role she served at Boise State from 2022 to 2024.
“She will have an immediate and positive impact on our program, playing an important role in almost every area,” said Head Coach Lou Snelling. “She brings a wealth of experience to the staff, having a deep background in the region and Mid-American Conference.”
Rhynard spent time in the MAC as associate head coach for the Ball State Cardinals from 2018-2020. During this span the Cardinals had their best MAC Championship finish since 2007, reached their highest regional ranking in over ten years.
Prior to coaching, Rhynard was a standout as an athlete, winning three cross-country letters and four track and field letters at Michigan State from 2009-2013.
Rhynard’s hiring marks the first coaching move for Falcon running since former assistant Coach Candace Archer departed the staff. Rhynard’s arrival also bolsters an already accomplished staff, with Coach Snelling and Coach Reggie Trotter respectively receiving the MAC’s Indoor Track and Field Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year awards this season.
