April is Earth Month, a time to think about how we interact with our planet and take action in protecting it. Bowling Green’s 13th annual community Earth Day celebration will be held on April 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 515 Sand Ridge Rd, which is the Montessori School of Bowling Green.
Many Wood County agencies have collaborated to create a family-friendly event full of Earth conservation, education and fun activities like hands-on learning stations.
Bowling Green’s Bike Safety Commission will be holding a slow roll along the Slippery Elm Trail at 1 p.m. before the start of the event. The bike ride will begin at the Montessori School of Bowling Green. All bike riders must wear a helmet.
Attendees are able to plant a sunflower with BGSU, learn about trees with the City’s Arborist, learn about frogs with Bowling Green’s Parks and Recreation Department, or roll the giant Earth Ball with the Wood County Park District. The event is free and open to all.
The Wood County District Public Library will be hosting an Earth Day Storybook Walk. There will be informative, hands-on learning stations brought by the Wood County Health Department and the Montessori School of Bowling Green. There will also be interactive games by the Wood County Solid Waste District, Northwestern Water and Sewer District and others.
People are encouraged to take special care of the Earth this month and attend the Earth Day event to celebrate.
