BG Falcon Media took home seven awards from the Press Club of Cleveland’s Ohio Excellence in Journalism awards Friday, June 6 at the House of Blues in Cleveland.
Sports Production Director Tyler Kavalecz represented BG Falcon Media and collected seven awards for the organization including:
Four first places:
- Writing (General News): Blake Pierce, Justice for Stone Foltz
- Writing (Sports): Ben Corak, Lucas Kleimeyer, Steve Iwanek, Drake Harlett, 1984 national hockey championship remembered
- Visuals (Graphics): Ben Corak, Nay Say, How to be a Falcon hockey fan
- Visuals (Page Design): Vic Miller, Emerald Shanefeldt, Nay Say, Lokkeberg and Zlinka
Two second places:
- Video (Sports): Lucas Kleimeyer, Raymond Cotis, Samuel Barrett, Painting with BGSU men’s soccer’s Bennett Painter
- Visuals (Page Design): Nay Say, Gardner Sisters
One third place:
- Visuals (Page Design): Vic Miller, Emerald Shanefeldt, Nay Say, Who Will Be Champs?
“It’s gratifying to see our students honored for their innovative work, especially against such excellent competition,” said BG Falcon Media Manager Karl Smith.
This comes about two months after BG Falcon Media took home five awards from the Ohio News Media Association’s annual competition, including second overall for excellence in collegiate journalism.
