PERRYSBURG – Josh Johnson, executive director of Visit Perrysburg, resigned just over a year into his tenure, citing “differing visions” with the organizations board, The Blade reported on July 7.
According to the city’s official announcement, Johnson, who was hired in June 2024, led the city’s tourism and branding efforts, stepping into the role with ambitions to reenergize local tourism and expand Perrysburg’s regional profile. Hired June of last year, Johnson led with emphasized storytelling, collaboration, and positioning the city as the destination for events, history, and culture.
During his tenure, Johnson was named Toledo City Paper’s 2024 “Up and Coming Professional,” a recognition Visit Perrysburg highlighted in a Facebook post last fall. He was credited with new, refreshing ideas for the organization’s branding and digital presence, including updates to VisitPerrysburg.com, while launching new promotional campaigns.
However, internal friction over long term direction appears to have cut his leadership short. In a statement to The Blade, Johnson cited a disconnect between his vision and that of the board, noting the importance of staying aligned when leading a public facing organization.
The Visit Perrysburg board has not released a statement about the transition but confirmed a leadership search is underway.
