The City of Bowling Green issued a warning about a phone scam where callers impersonate Fire Division personnel and solicit fraudulent donations for the “Fire Levy.”
According to a city news release, at least one resident has reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be a fire department representative. The caller identified himself as “Mike,” and in previous reports, the name “Major” was used.
The city emphasized no department or division will ever request donations by phone. Residents are urged to treat such calls as scams and to avoid sharing personal or financial information. Anyone who receives a suspicious call is encouraged to report it immediately to the Bowling Green Police Division at 419-352-1131.

The city offered the following safety tips:
- Do not allow unsolicited individuals into your home.
- Do not share personal or financial information.
- Do not leave your home with someone who arrives unannounced.
- Always ask for official identification
- Report suspicious behavior to the Bowling Green Polica Division at 419-352-1131.
