This morning, BGSU men’s basketball assistant coach Lourawls “Tum Tum” Nairn Jr. was announced as the head coach for the Bahamas senior men’s basketball team at the FIBA AmeriCup.
The FIBA AmeriCup will feature 12 teams, including Canada, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and more. The tournament will take place from Aug. 22-31 in Nicaragua.
“I’m still trying to process everything, but I feel extremely blessed,” said Nairn Jr. “Obviously, anytime you get to represent your country, it’s an extreme honor.”
Nairn Jr played for the Bahamian National team previously, alongside NBA players like DeAndre Ayton and Eric Gordon.
“Tum has been outstanding for us as a player, and I have no doubt he’ll bring that same passion and excellence to his role on the sidelines,” said LJ Rose, the Bahamas Men’s National team general manager.
