Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and the Bowling Green community have had many changes over the summer. Many new businesses have opened both on and around campus.
Kohl Hall, a dormitory on the BGSU campus first built in 1939, was shut down for the 2024-2025 school year. It is now open for the 2025-2026 school year and it comes with some major renovations and upgrades. Kohl Hall now has air conditioning throughout the building.
The building still has standard double rooms with two people for each room. The bathroom, however, has changed significantly. They are now arranged in what is considered a pod-style bathroom. Though students will still have to exit their rooms to use the bathroom, they are now separated so that each bathroom individually has a shower, sink and toilet. This allows for more privacy for students.
The BGSU campus has also seen some other significant changes. What was once Pub 1910 has changed to Cantina 1910. It opened its doors for the first time on the first day of the semester, Monday, Aug. 25. Cantina 1910 has a Tex-Mex based menu and it will have a combination of new items and old fan favorites.
The BTSU is also host to a new Cinnabon. Its grand opening was on the first day of the semester, Monday, Aug. 25. Cinnabon is located in the Nest, replacing Hissho Sushi. The Nest still serves sushi in the cooler next to Cinnabon.
The Bowling Green community is also welcoming new businesses to the area. Heavenly Pizza is a new spot to enjoy. Its grand opening was on Aug. 22, bringing a menu of pizza, wings, pasta, breadsticks and salads to Bowling Green. Heavenly Pizza is located at 1414 E Wooster St.
Grub Guys is another new spot for food in Bowling Green. It had a soft opening in early July. The menu has a variety of options. The appetizers go from fried pickles to southwest egg rolls. The main menu consists of bowls from pasta to steak and eggs to fried chicken. You can also customize your meal and build your own bowl. Grub Guys is located at 215 E Wooster St.
Wing Stop is bringing a new franchise to the Bowling Green area. It officially opened on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Wingstop is located at the intersection of East Wooster Street and South Mercer Road. It is the first Wing Stop location in Wood County.
Jersey Mikes, located right next door to Wing Stop, is officially open on Aug. 27, bringing a new sandwich franchise to Bowling Green. Jersey Mike’s has a variety of hot and cold subs and is introducing new options to Bowling Green.
