BGSU Football (1-1) traveled down south to Nippert Stadium on Saturday to face off against the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-1).
Despite the Falcons losing in a tough battle, 34-20. There were still numerous bright spots amidst the struggle-filled day. One of them was senior Quarterback Drew Pyne. In the 14-point defeat, Pyne completed 29 of 36 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown, achieving an 81% completion percentage.
In a game where the Falcons had a hard time finding a sense of rhythm, the veteran doesn’t let a few bad moments ruin his attitude towards moving forward.
“He has that next-play mentality,” senior tight end Jyrin Johnson commented postgame. “He doesn’t let one play defy the rest of the game. If you let that happen, you are not going to have a good game.
Pyne’s development has been closely analyzed under a microscope ever since arriving on Bowling Green’s campus this past off-season, and in just two games alone, the transfer has shown signs of getting better each week he steps onto the field. The weekend’s game against the Bearcats reiterated that same ideology.
Win or lose, head coach Eddie George continues to notice it day in and day out.
“He’s adjusting,” George said. “There’s still a learning curve that he’s going to go through over the next four to five weeks.”
Pyne will indeed go through the learning curve one way or another, and it starts with returning home to Bowling Green, Ohio, to prepare for homecoming week against the Liberty Flames.
The game is set for Saturday, Sept. 13, with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. Falcon Media Sports Network’s Tyler Kavalecz and Adam Duffin will be on the call on Falcon Radio.
