The Career Expo is a week-long event to help students kick off their careers. The Career Expo ran through Sept. 15-19, with the job fair being on Sept. 17 and 18.
The Career Expo is where students can engage with employers face-to-face for an internship, part-time job or full-time job.
At the Career Expo, Mitch Port, a career design coach, shared that the Career Expo is open to everyone.
“We provide opportunities for every major…there’s people that are looking for full-time roles, internships, co-ops and part-time opportunities across all majors,” Port said.
A sophomore, Abigael Toronski, majoring in marketing, states that she went to the Career Expo for a class but is also looking for internships.
“It looks like maybe some [internships] that can even lead to part-time to full-time jobs, which is exactly what I need right now,” Toronski stated.
An employer named Megan Boyle works for a High Mutual Insurance Group. She believes that the Career Expo helps multiple students find opportunities.
“They have potential to be hired by a company, through internships or even job shadowing. So, by coming to these, they have a better chance of getting in those roles,” Boyle said.
Cory Radebaugh is the operations manager at J.B. Hunt. He shares his thoughts on why students should come to the Career Expo.
“It helps demonstrate their communication skills, which no matter what industry you’re going for, that’s what companies are looking for out there,” Radebaugh explained.
Vincent Ravanelli, a sophomore majoring in sales and service marketing and information systems, talks about how the Career Expo will help him in the future.
“…being able to meet people, even if I’m not going to be interested in any internships. Just to prepare me for things like next year and for the future,” Ravanelli said.
The Career Expo provides lots of opportunities to students during college before they graduate.
“The Career Expo is a great place for students to meet with their future employers. We have companies that are both local and national and it gives them the opportunity to meet face to face, so they’re not just a resume on a screen when they’re applying to a job…,” said Port
