The City of Bowling Green Water Distribution Division will be flushing and testing fire hydrants from Monday, Sept. 29, to Friday, Oct. 3.
This work will continue from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Customers and community members may face some challenges during this period..
Customers may experience discolored water and are encouraged to check their cold water supply before use. This condition is temporary and customers are told to briefly flush the cold water line until it clears.
The discolored water is not harmful to drink, but it may stain light-colored clothes if washed in it. Community members experiencing problems may pick up laundry rust remover from the Municipal Water Distribution office at 324 North Maple Street, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
City crews will also be working near the roadway, so drivers are asked to slow down and use caution.
Fire hydrants in the city are flushed and tested annually to ensure they operate properly and to clear any water line buildup.
