Students filled the Union Oval on Monday afternoon to celebrate BGSU football’s victory at the Battle of I-75 game on Saturday.
The event had free food, performances from the Falcon Marching Band and spirit programs, photo opportunities with the Battle of I-75 trophy along with appearances from Head Coach Eddie George and Pudge the cat.
Gideon Lampron, BGSU football junior linebacker, said Monday’s celebration was “unreal.”
“I’ve never seen anything like this at my last school,” Lampron said. “This is just so special to be a part of and it really makes you feel like you’re part of the community.”
He said winning Saturday’s game was one of the team’s biggest goals of the season and they’re able to share this victory with teammates and friends.
“There’s no better feeling in the world than beating Toledo,” Lampron said.
Students like seniors Madelin Peterson and Leah Whitford who attended Saturday’s game said everyone there was “so hype” and Monday’s event kept that excitement going.
“I think a big part of the reason everyone’s here is for the free pizza, but then they stay for the party,” Peterson said.
Peterson said these events help students get through these busy weeks of the semester as midterms approach.
“Especially we’re getting into the rough part of the semester, so it’s like let’s keep the energy alive and make it through these last weeks,” Peterson said.
