BGSU football is back under .500 after falling 27-6 to Central Michigan.
Here are some of the questions that were sent in for this week’s Falcon Media Sports Network mailbag:
Q: In the pressers, [Eddie George] always says that the loss is on him and his failure. At what point is it on the players and their failure to execute the game plan?
A (Sean Connelly): In certain cases, it can be a mix of the coach and the player. That said, when a loss like that happens, it does fall on the head coach to take blame for not having the players at least somewhat ready. So, George talking about that in his press conference is valid. Not because they lost, but because they lost with no fight. If a few plays didn’t go their way, then yes, that’s just on execution. It does no one anyone any good to point the finger in the locker room and blaming others for the loss. The players and coaches both know how this past Saturday’s loss went down, and I can only assume that they all know what they need to do to get back to winning football.
Q: Would you prefer [Lucian Anderson III] or [Drew Pyne] as the starting QB after Pyne returns from injury?
A (Tyler Kavalecz): There are multiple ways to look at this question. If you want to build for the future, you stick with Anderson. However, if you want to win, it may not be the worst decision to go back to Pyne. Pyne, although he has been rocky, is a team captain. Meanwhile, Anderson has struggled a bit in his two starts, completing 63% of his pass attempts for only 245 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. But assuming Anderson starts again on Saturday, if he can look good in a win, I would say stick with Anderson, as he does have the ability to make the offense more dynamic and has the potential to have a future with the Falcons past this season.
