The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced two teams, Drake University and University of Nebraska at Omaha, to become the newest affiliate members for men’s tennis.
Drake and Omaha will become the second and third affiliate men’s tennis programs, joining UIC. They will competing against the current members of the MAC, Toledo, Western Michigan, Ball State and Buffalo.
The Drake’s men’s tennis program started competition in 1929 in the Missouri Valley Conference. More recently, the team competed in the Summit League where they hold five conference titles and nine tournament victories.
In the 2025-26 year, Drake finished eighth place on the ITA regional rankings list. They set a program record, starting their season with 14 straight victories.
Finishing the 2025-26 year strong, Omaha men’s tennis finished tenth on the ITA central regional rankings list.
“I could not be more excited for this program to be joining the MAC,” said Hunter Clark, current head coach of the Mavericks. “This conference has a great tennis history and is full of incredible programs.”
They competed in the Summit League alongside Drake, finishing their last season 12-18 in singles play and 5-8 in doubles.
The two programs last competed against one another in April of this year. Omaha was victorious 4-3.
