On Thursday, Oct. 30, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Hajime “Jimmy” Kishimori, who serves as the consul general of Japan in Detroit, is visiting Bowling Green State University for a lecture. This event is free and open to the public.
As consul general, Kishimori seeks to deepen the ties between Japan and the United States, specifically based in Michigan and Ohio. He promotes the industrial benefits of the large number of Japanese companies, as well as exchange programs and cultural diversity in this region.
His previous professions include first secretary for the embassy of Japan in the United States and in Thailand, positions in strategic communications and the treaties division for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and second secretary, counselor and rapporteur for various committees and missions of the United Nations (U.N.).
His lecture, highlighting his work with the U.N., will be hosted in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Room 201 A and B.
