In the Roots: Ohio’s Native Plants Exhibit
November is Native American Heritage Month, and BGSU is honoring that in this year’s In The Round event series, which is bringing to light Indigenous artists’ voices. At the Willard Wankelman Gallery in the Fine Arts Center, undergraduate and graduate students are putting together a public showcase to experiment with collaboration and storytelling through design and history. The exhibit opened on Nov. 2, but it will be running until Nov. 15, so there is plenty of time to check it out. The dates for the exhibit are Nov. 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15 all from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Join BGSU students from classes Collaboration and Community Engagement and Museum Studies in Public History taught by Jenn Stucker and Cheryl Dong, respectively, in honoring Native American Heritage Month. This event is free to attend.

Someplace Warm
If you enjoy the performing arts, support your friends in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Theatre and Film is putting on their first production of the Elsewhere season. Someplace Warm is a play by Peter Macklin that touches on many different topics ranging from womanhood, race, sexual orientation, religion, current events and politics. The play follows a survivor of rape who finds out she is pregnant. She must make the decision to raise the child or not, with the support of her best friends, a gay couple who wishes for a child of their own. The production is free to the public and will be taking place on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. in Eva Marie Saint Theater in the Wolfe Center for the arts.

UAO Fall Fest
It’s finally sweater weather. Fall is here and it’s time for fire pits, pumpkins and the smell of falling leaves. The University Activities Organization (UAO) is putting on a Fall Fest to celebrate autumn’s return to BGSU’s campus. Students will be able to sit under the stars, stay warm by the fire pit, play yard games like cornhole and spikeball and enjoy some free snacks. There will be popcorn and frozen coffee, as well as a caramel apple bar. That and the pumpkin patch will provide the perfect fall photo op. Finally, try your hand at the Halloween obstacle course with the mechanical pumpkin. The UAO has many activities planned for everyone on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m at the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle.

Namaste Nepal
Every year, the Nepal Student Association celebrates Nepali culture at Namaste Nepal. BGSU students and faculty are welcome to experience and learn about Nepali culture and traditions. The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Ballroom. Those who attend will enjoy traditional dance and live music performances, authentic Nepali cuisine, games and photo opportunities with Lakhey, a demon in Newari folklore. This year, the event will honor those who lost their lives in the Sept. 8 revolution in Nepal. The celebration will serve as a moment of remembrance, a way to connect with your community and to express pride in culture. The event is free and open to all but attendees are asked to RSVP before the event.
