Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day by serving your community and get funding to make it happen.
Bowling Green State University (BGSU) students and student organizations can now apply for the MLK Day of Service Micro‑Grant to lead creative service projects that reflect Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s values of justice, service and compassion.
Two $1,000 grants and four $500 grants are available to cover project expenses such as supplies, materials, transportation and outreach efforts.
Projects must be completed in conjunction with BGSU’s MLK Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 and all purchased supplies must remain with the Marvin Center after the event.
Applications are open now and due Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, by 11:59 p.m., with award notifications sent on Nov. 14, 2025.
Applicants will need to provide a project description, community need addressed, partnerships, target participants, estimated number of volunteers, project location, budget breakdown, connection to MLK Day and plans for sustainability. Awardees are also required to submit an 8-10 minute video reflection after the project highlighting impact, leadership growth and use of funds.
Apply individually or on behalf of a student organization to bring your service idea to life.
