Along with voting on city council, school board and municipal court races, Bowling Green voters passed the proposed income tax levy to fund the construction of two new fire stations on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Unofficial results from the Wood County Board of Elections indicate that the levy passed with 68.05% of the votes. The tax levy, which approves a 0.15% increase to the city’s income tax, will also help improve the fire division’s equipment. The two new fire stations will be located along Newton Road and Carter Park in the city.
The non-partisan school board race saw the incumbent partnership of Norman Geer and Ryan Myers win the two available seats over challenger Stephen Bateson. Geer, who serves as the school board’s president, won 34.19% of the vote while Myers won 36.85%. Bateson had won 28.97% of the vote.
In the city council at-large races, Democrats saw success with Mark Hollenbaugh and Katelyn Elliott taking the two at-large seats.
