Claudette Jones, a senior film student at Bowling Green State University, created a play that is a hybrid between film and theatre, which will be shown at the ArtsX showcase.
“This play is a hybrid of film and theatre, so when this play is being presented, the audience will be in one room watching it on the screen while in another room, the actors and actresses will be acting and being filmed live,” Jones said.
The play is about a wife waiting for her husband to come home, but it turns into a performance of “fear.”
“In a small living room, a wife, Iris, waits for her husband, Victor, to come home. What begins as a quiet evening slips into a charged performance of control, fear, and illusion, where every word, glance and silence becomes part of a dangerous act neither can stop,” Jones explained.
As a project like this has never happened on campus, Jones went through some difficulties.
“The most difficult part of this project was that this type of medium is an experimental new form of art, as this has yet to be done, so learning what does or doesn’t work and making sure that the cameras are working and don’t go out for some reason,” Jones said.
ArtsX is an art showcase happening on Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Wolfe Center and the Fine Arts Center. The time slot for this specific play has yet to be announced.
“ArtsX is an annual event for students and teachers to present their art/creative work to the public,” Jones said in an email statement.
