As the college football season for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) continues to shrink little by little, the possible names being thrown into the ring of ‘Player of the Year’ start to become more evident each week.
Here are the possible front-runners to keep an eye on, Around The MAC:
Chase Hendricks- Wide Receiver, Ohio
Not only does Ohio have an explosive quarterback with Navarro, but it also helps to have a senior wide receiver in Chase Hendricks.
Throughout nine appearances for the Bobcats, Hendricks has led the conference in receptions with 60, yards with 845, and total yards amongst other receivers with 93.3 yards per game.
Back in early October, Hendricks was also named on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The award is given to the best wide receiver during the regular season.
Red Murdock- Linebacker, Buffalo
Shifting to the defensive side of the ball, the Buffalo Bulls’(5-4, 4-1) senior linebacker Red Murdock has set not only a career year for himself, but also broken records along the way.
Murdock has sat inside the top two in tackles in the conference, along with leading in forced fumbles with 6 this season and having his career high 17th against the Bowling Green Falcons (3-7, 1-5) back on Nov. 1.
Overall tackles have also been a specialty for the Butkus Award Semifinalist, with 38 solo tackles this season and having a game-high 16 against the Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-3, 4-2) back on Aug. 30.
Chip Trayanum- Running back, Toledo
The Toledo Rockets (5-4, 3-2) have added numerous key pieces to their roster this season, and senior running back Chip Trayanum has been quite the exception.
In joining his fourth different program, Trayanum has led the MAC in the yards per attempt at 5.6 and has remained in the top two in total yards per game at 845 with eight touchdowns to his total.
The experienced tailback also currently sits in the top two in overall scoring, averaging seven or more points each matchup.
Noah Kim- Quarterback, Eastern Michigan
While the season for the Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-7, 2-4) has been less than stellar, senior quarterback for the Green and Grey, Noah Kim, has made the most out of it.
In 10 games this season, Kim has snuck to the top of the signal-caller standings in passing yards at 2,261, averaging 226.1 a game, with 15 passing touchdowns to add on to the resume.
Kim has also been seen to not only throw but use his ability to move on the run as well, averaging 15.9 rushing yards in a game.
