BGSU football is out of bowl game contention with two game remaining in the season, leading to many questions around the program.
Here are some of the questions that were sent in for this week’s Falcon Media Sports Network mailbag:
Q: Why didn’t No. 30, No. 23 and No. 26 play in the game?
A (Tyler Kavalecz): First of all, junior defensive end Myles Bradley (No. 23) and graduate student running back PaSean Wimberly (No. 30) did play in the loss to Eastern Michigan. Bradley recorded two quarterback hurries, while Wimberly rushed the ball once for one yard. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman running back Cameron Pettaway did not play for the third game in a row. He was dressed for warmups, but did not play due to an undisclosed injury.
Q: Why don’t they run the ball all the time, especially on first and second down? The defense knows the run is coming and stuffs the box for little yardage. The offensive line is horrible, and it doesn’t help the play calling.
A (Sean Connelly): Running the ball for the Falcons seems to be their top priority going into each game. The most pass attempts we’ve had all year were 36 attempts in week two by Drew Pyne, which was then followed by 31 attempts the following week against Liberty. So, a passing offense was in the works early on in the season. Multiple quarterbacks trying to ease their way into the offense and running the ball seems to be their best option to make them most comfortable. Pettaway and Chris McMillian looked to be one of the Mid-American Conference’s (MAC) best duos at the running back position before Pettaway got injured. But it then paved the way for Austyn Dendy, who is making a pretty big name for himself, as he already is second on the team in rushing yards with 268 despite only playing three games. So, I believe it’s because of the depth in the running back room and just still not having a steady offense in the pass game.

Well I think it’s stupid to let three players backs who assaulted somebody while they kick a kid who just wanted a opportunity to play for the team, but because they felt that they didn’t recruit him and he is a walk on they didn’t have to use them but you’ll keep players that ain’t even going to get in the game and beating up people in a bar or whatever they was doing I find that’s very disturbing.
