BGSU football are entering the final game of the season tomorrow afternoon at UMass. Looking to end the season on a positive note after suffering five straight losses.
There are still questions looming about the quarterback situation while also some offseason moves that fans are eager to know:
(Q) Which QB(s) should BG prioritize in the portal and will we see offensive coaches continue to be replaced.
A (Sean Connelly) The offseason is full of uncertainty for the Falcons. It will be the first full offseason for head coach Eddie George who is “excited” to have a full one with the Falcons. I’m not sure which direction he’s planning on going with the quarterback situation considering he went to the portal a year ago for a QB. This year, Lucian Anderson and Hunter Najm both gaining more experience than we all anticipated this year with both quarterbacks with multiple years of eligibility left. In terms of coaches, obviously the offensive coordinator will need to be filled. After that, I will be eager to see if coach George pulls the plug on anyone else and what other changes will be made this offseason.
(Q) Nobody going to ask coach George about the decision to pass with a quarterback who was struggling the entire game, a walk-on. Instead of running the ball and at worst going to OT? Just like the Kent loss this staff continues to put young QBs in positions to turn over the ball or take sacks.
A (Sean Connelly) The quarterback situation was not one any of us expected. Injuries mixed with inexperience caused for the QB position to be the biggest question mark and even what if for this season. As for passing late in the game, the clock was now under one minute to go in the game at the time of Najm’s interception to end the game. The offense seemed to be running a hurry up as the clock continued to tick to get as many yards as possible to make it an easier kick on Jackson Kleather. As well as the urgency to go win the game with a touchdown. I don’t think the urgency to pass that late was the wrong decision by any means.
