BGSU women’s basketball (6-4) hosts Le Moyne (1-8) on Tuesday morning for a School Day game at the Stroh Center, for the first-ever meeting between the Falcons and the Dolphins.
Falcon Media Sports Network’s Adam Duffin and Holden Ruck will be on the call for the 11 a.m. tipoff on WBGU 88.1 FM. Dan Ridenour will start pre-game coverage at 10:45 a.m.
Bowling Green
BG has won its first four home games and five straight overall. The Falcons’ latest victory was a 104-76 shootout over Lourdes on Sunday.
It wasn’t an ideal start for BGSU, as they were down 21-19 after the first quarter. However, the game shifted back into BG’s favor due to the stellar performance of junior guard Paige Kohler. She finished 17 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds on Sunday. Marking her performance, the first triple-double performance was the first in program history.
Kohler was not alone in the scoring department in the starting lineup. Junior guard Jasmine Fearne scored 16 points and made four three-pointers.
The bench duo of sophomore forward Lauren Gerken and junior forward Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick also scored 16 and 17, respectively.
A key aspect of the upcoming game is the availability of sophomore guard Johnea Donahue and junior forward Taya Ellis. Donahue was not active on Sunday, and Ellis left the game early with an injury.
Both have started every game they’ve suited up for and are big contributors on both ends.
Le Moyne
The Dolphins have lost seven straight matchups and were defeated 89-42 by Marquette on Sunday.
They are led by head coach Nick DiPillo, as he enters his second year with the program. DiPillo was an assistant for Bowling Green’s head coach, Fred Chmiel, in the 2023-2024 season.
Sophomore guard Eli Clark leads the way for Le Moyne’s offense with 9.6 points per game. She has started all nine contests for the Dolphins.
She has been joined by junior forward Ashley Buragas, senior guard Sierra Linnin, and freshman guard Kayden Clark as the four players to start all nine games.
A glaring reason for Le Moyne’s struggles has been its shooting. As a team, the Dolphins have only shot 34.9% while averaging just over 51 points per game.
Le Moyne will need to improve offensively to upset the Orange and Brown.
FALCON FOUR PLAYERS TO WATCH
Paige Kohler (Bowling Green — No. 10, junior guard)
Kohler is coming off a triple-double performance and was able to make dazzling passes all afternoon. She will look to ride the hot wave versus the Dolphins.
Jasmine Fearne (Bowling Green — No. 20, junior guard)
Fearne has made four three-pointers in back-to-back games. She has been able to solidify her spot in the starting five and can be a threat from outside in this one.
Eli Clark (Le Moyne — No. 2, sophomore guard)
Clark leads the Dolphins in points and assists and will be asked to lead the way again versus the Falcons. She will be the primary focus for BG’s defense.
Ashley Buragas (Le Moyne — No. 45, junior forward)
Buragas is Le Moyne’s second leading scorer and leading rebounder while shooting the highest percentage on the roster. At six-foot-one, she can match up well against BG’s forwards.
