Local cat cafe Tabby and Fidos has been forced to move out of their current building and has no plans to reopen at a new location.
After over two years of being open, the cafe’s last day open will be Jan. 30.
As reported in October by Falcon Media, the location was bought, and the cafe had until March to find a new location. After searching, the owners, Patty Beam and Morgan Meronk, were unsuccessful in finding a new location.
“The new property owners are not interested in renewing our lease, and while we did explore the possibility of relocating, even if we were able to find another space, the financial resources we now have are limited after investing so much into starting this business at our current location with the help of the previous owner,” as stated in a Facebook post from the business.
At this time, according to the post, they cannot afford the cost of moving and rebuilding.
“While this location is closing, the business itself is still for sale, and we are hopeful that someone may step forward to continue this concept at a new location in the area,” as stated in the post.
All cats currently in the lounge are still available for adoption, and once the cafe closes, they will be returned to local rescues.
“This decision has not been made lightly,” the owners added. “We have thought about it every single day, and the last thing we ever wanted to do was close our doors.”
