The Dive of I-75
The Battle of I-75 does not just stop at basketball and football. Join the Women’s Swimming and Diving Team as they take on Bowling Green State University’s rivals from down the highway, the University of Toledo, this Friday, Jan. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. This event will take place at the Student Recreation Center on campus at the Cooper Pool. The concept of the rivalry is very significant to both schools, stemming back to years of consistent sporting events where the teams go head-to-head. Students can cheer the team on from the bleachers as the team dives in hopes of gaining scores that will earn them a win against Toledo. This event is also a part of Weeks of Welcome on campus, which is a series of events that are put on by the campus community and helps students to get involved at the beginning of the semester.
Paint the town orange
Falcons, are you ready for the biggest hockey game of the semester? Get your cheering voices ready because it’s time to pack the Slater Family Ice Arena and paint it orange as Bowling Green State University takes on Notre Dame, this Saturday, Jan. 31 at 6:07 p.m. The theme is Orange Wave, so students are encouraged to wear all of the orange they own as they cheer on the team. If you are a student, you should have gotten the chance to claim your free ticket via an RSVP link, which is not the same as our regular system used for your free student tickets. If you are unable to reserve your seat and attend in person, do not fear. The game will be streaming live on Channel 5.1 on campus through WBGU.

From Earth to the Universe
Have you ever wondered what your place in the universe may be? Join the College of Arts and Sciences on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in an interesting tour of the universe from Earth to faraway galaxies. The showcase will cover the history of astronomy, dating all the way back from the ancient Greeks to the invention of the telescope, to modern-day observations that allow us to see the universe as it is. This event is sure to light up your world with stars and answer any questions you may have been wondering about humanity and the universe. The event is free, but a $2 donation is suggested, but not required. The planetarium on campus hosts public shows throughout the semester until early May. There will also be a special series of lectures that will be offered on Thursday evenings as well, and they’re set to start this spring.
