BG women’s basketball (11-11, 4-7 MAC) lost to Kent State (10-12, 5-6 MAC) 73-64 on Wednesday night.
In the loss, Bowling Green struggled to score after their 18 points in the opening quarter.
The second quarter produced the lowest output for the Falcons, scoring nine points. The glaring issue is the 3-of-17 shooting for BG in the quarter.
The Orange and Brown rank just 10th out of 13 teams in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in field goal percentage, at just under 40%.
Against the Golden Flashes, the Falcons shot 22-for-68 from the field, only slightly above 32%.
Out of the starting five for BG, sophomore guard Johnea Donahue was the only one to shoot 50% or higher, as she went 6-for-12 from the field with 15 points.
Another issue for the team was 3-point shooting, with an overall mark of 5-of-25 from beyond-the-arc. Bowling Green ranks 10th in the MAC in 3-point percentage, shooting 28% as a team.
Junior guard Paige Kohler was the lone Falcon to make a 3-pointer, as she connected on five-for-13 attempts. 4 out of 5 threes came in the fourth quarter, as Kohler tried to mount a comeback with 21 points on the night.
The Falcons did score 26 in the fourth quarter, but Kohler was responsible for 17 of those points.
Bowling Green is fighting for their tournament hopes as they drop to eighth in the MAC standings.
The Falcons will have a break from conference play on Saturday, as they host Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. in the Stroh Center.
