Coming off their biggest road win of the season against Ohio, BGSU women’s basketball (16-12, 8-8) will conclude the road portion of the regular season in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, taking on the Central Michigan Chippewas (17-11, 11-6) at McGuirk Arena.
Falcon Media Sports Network’s Trey Kennedy will have the call on WBGU 88.1 FM with tip-off slated for 6:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Bowling Green leads the series 54-24 against Central Michigan, with Wednesday marking the 79th all-time matchup. The Falcons have also posted a 21-11 away record against the Chippewas.
In their first meeting of the season, CMU defeated the Orange and Brown 68-56 back in early January. Before that defeat, Bowling Green had won six straight meetings, starting all the way back to the 2021-2022 season.
BOWLING GREEN
A real argument can be made for the Falcons hitting their stride at the perfect time of the season. Winning the last three games, against Western Michigan and upsets over rivals Toledo and Ohio.
With results over this past weekend, Bowling Green officially clinched their spot in the MAC Tournament, currently sitting in the seventh seed and is back to .500 in conference play.
Junior forward Taya Ellis has played a massive role in all three of the last Falcon victories. Ellis has recorded three consecutive double-doubles, including a recent performance of 16 points and 16 rebounds against Ohio. In the last three outings, Ellis has scored 39 points and grabbed 37 rebounds.
The Falcons will enter this one with a 5-8 road record, having won just one of their five games away from the Stroh Center. But the Orange and Brown have taken wins in five of their last six games and will look to continue their form before the MAC Tournament in Cleveland.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Chippewas have lost three of their last four contests, coming off a 63-56 defeat to Kent State at the M.A.C. Center. Their last win was against Toledo, 68-64 at Savage Arena on Feb. 25. Yet, a win against the Falcons will see CMU clinch the fourth seed in the MAC Tournament.
Last time Central Michigan and Bowling Green met, the Chippewas were held to just 26 points in the first half, before outscoring the Falcons 42-30 in a rout to their first conference road win of the season.
Sophomore guard Madi Morson is leading the MAC in points per game (PPG) with 19.7. Morson scored 19 in her last outing against Kent State, and in her first matchup with the Falcons, she scored 22. The 2025 MAC Freshman of the Year has scored in double-digits in every single game this season besides one, when the team lost 82-40 to Michigan.
Central Michigan is 8-4 at home this season, including 5-3 against MAC opponents.
FALCON FOUR PLAYERS TO WATCH
#3 Johnea Donahue – Sophomore Guard, Bowling Green
The MAC leader in steals per game (SPG), Donahue had five steals last time against CMU, but just six points. A big performance on the road against the Chippewas from Donahue could propel the Falcons to their fourth straight victory.
#11 Taya Ellis – Junior Forward, Bowling Green
Hard not to include Ellis based on her current form; she recorded eight points and eight rebounds when BG took on CMU earlier this season. It will be interesting to see if Ellis can record her fourth straight double-double.
#24 Taylor Anderson – Senior Guard, Central Michigan
Anderson grabbed 11 rebounds in their last game, one of the two players who recorded double figures in rebounding, along with Ayanna-Sarai Darrington, who had 12. Rebounding will be a key factor, and Anderson is the third-best rebounder in the MAC per game, averaging 9.5.
#00 Madi Morson – Sophomore Guard, Central Michigan
Along with her scoring, Morson has 35 steals on the season, which is the most on the team. Along with 45 assists and 109 total rebounds, she has her impact across all areas on the floor for the Chippewas.

When a player is protecting the rim and altering possessions like that, you ride that stretch. Thirty-four seconds felt like a quick hook for someone impacting the game defensively. I’d like to hear coaches reasoning.
