BGSU women’s basketball (17-13, 9-9) outlasts the Northern Illinois Huskies (7-23, 4-14), marking a 77-66 victory to conclude the 2025-2026 regular season, with three seniors on the roster playing their last game inside the Stroh Center.
“I’m just really happy that we got to honor our graduates, and they got to go out on this note,” said head coach Fred Chmiel. “We love the momentum going into the tournament.”
Chmiel shook his starting lineup today to honor the seniors who will be graduating this spring, by implementing senior guard Emily Siesel, senior guard Kaia Woods, and senior forward Kendal Moxey into the lineup. Along with those three, junior guard Jasmine Fearne and junior guard Paige Kohler also rounded out the starting five, with Kohler mentioning she will be graduating this year as well.
Kohler finished with a team-best 20 points off 7-13 shooting, including connecting on 3-6 shots from downtown.
Siesel capped her final game at the Stroh Center, scoring six points with both shots coming from behind the arc. Not to mention, grabbing four rebounds, with two assists as well.
Moxey finished the day with one rebound, one assist, one steal, and one block as a starter.
Chmiel was asked postgame about both Emily Siesel and Kendal Moxey, and what they mean to him, both of whom were on the team before Chmiel took the head coaching job at Bowling Green.
“I mean, first of all, I love them like my own,” said Chmiel. “They’ve never treated me like I didn’t recruit them, that I didn’t bring them here, that they weren’t a part of what we were trying to build as a new staff. Again, like two of the greatest people on the planet. They always give 1000% effort, and regardless of what’s been going on in their day, they’re always engaged, they’re happy, and you know, all in. I never have to worry about those two. I have no moods, none of that. They are fantastic individuals and have been a great asset to our program.
The Orange and Brown now look ahead to this upcoming week, when the MAC Tournament takes place from March 11-14.
