BGSU Parking Services is hosting its annual Toys for Tickets event. During this event, the department will be accepting toys as payment for parking tickets to be donated to the Wood County Children’s Protective Services and the Wood County Children’s Resource Center.
These toys must be new, unopened, unwrapped and come with a receipt to prove purchase. The toy must be the price of your ticket or more. Not all tickets for violations are eligible, including citations for forged or illegal permits, parking in a handicapped space and boot violations.
Parking Services will be accepting presents from now until Dec. 1. Toys need to be dropped off at the Parking Services office during business hours, 7 a.m. to p.m., Monday through Friday. Students do not have to have a ticket to donate toys.
This project was started back in 2016 by Aaron Kane, who was the manager of Parking Services at the time, to help families in the Bowling Green community. John Stewart, the current manager of parking and shuttle services, is the new point of contact. He is hoping that this program continues to move forward.
“The toys benefit families who are in need during the holidays. Giving back to the community is a way to be a good community partner,” a promotional sign for the event said.
