Ahead of her first season as head coach of the Orange and Brown, Alex DelPiombo and BGSU volleyball announced two incoming players to the team. The 2025 season will include two new outside hitter signees, freshman Anastasija Bozic and transfer Avery Hobson.
Bozic comes to Bowling Green from Panzevo, Serbia, the fifth European and eighth international player to play with BG in 2025.
The 6’1 outside hitter has previously played for OK Omladinac, ZOK Klek and OK Zeleznicar in Serbia, and, most recently, OK Kula Gradacac in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. She was named Best Scorer of the regular season for the Women’s OSBIH Premijer Liga in 2025.
“Anastasija joins our program as a freshman with an immense amount of high-level experience,” said DelPiombo. “Her commitment to getting better, being a good teammate, and passion for volleyball will be a big piece for our program.”
Bozic will work alongside Hobson, transferring from Duquesne after two seasons with the Dukes. She was named to the Atlantic-10 All-Rookie team in 2023 while receiving two A-10 Rookie of the Week awards. In her last season, the 6’1 hitter posted 217 kills and 55 total blocks; her 282 digs first and 36 aces tied for second amongst Dukes.
“Avery’s experience and drive to be great will immediately impact us,” said DelPiombo. “We are so excited to welcome her into our program and Falcon Nation and know she’s going to be a great fit in our BGSU community and gym.”
From 2024 to 2025, the Falcons retained DelPiombo and added assistant coaches Chelsi Carter and Alexa Wharton, losing two coaches and four impactful seniors.
Two seniors, Mia Tyler and Jordan Newblatt, were BG’s premier outside hitter duo in 2025, a 550+ kill and 600+ point gap for Bozic and Hobson to help fill.
BGSU’s volleyball roster now includes 13 returners and six newcomers, with Hobson the only transfer. Other freshmen with Bozic include fellow outside hitter Ava Buddelmeyer, right-side hitter Katerina Pickova, middle blocker Kendall Williams and defensive specialist Alivia Brown.
The Falcons start the 2025 season on Aug. 29 in Fargo, N.D. Competing against Temple, North Dakota State and Saint Mary’s at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
