BGSU hockey officially announced a new addition to the team via X on July 15, Czech forward Dominik Rymon.
Rymon is the eighth forward and 14th player to be added to the Falcon roster in the 2024-25 offseason; exactly half of the team is new to the Slater Family Ice Arena.
Born in Karlovy Vary, Czechia, the 5’10, 157 lbs left-hander will play his second stint of American hockey, three years with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League (WHL) after five years in Czech clubs.
He skated under Bowling Green’s head coach Dennis “Willi” Williams during his previous stint as bench boss in Everett, Rymon scoring 92 of his 158 points under Willi and finishing second on the team in scoring in 2023-24 (34/47/81).
“Dynamism and physical skills are Rymon’s top skills,” reads EliteProspects’ 2024 NHL Draft Guide. “(He) attacks at a high pace, but constantly shifts gears, angles and routes to confuse defenders and create space.”
The 21-year-old’s impressive international ticket includes his participation in the World Juniors Championship (WJC), playing for Czechia’s U18 and U20 teams as well as in 47 international games.
Rymon scored eight points in 11 games in WJC competition and 41 points in 58 total games for his native country, all spanning back to 2019-20 at just 16 years old.
Rymon’s commitment comes the same day as defenseman recruit Mazden Leslie’s decommitment from Bowling Green and return to the WHL.
The Alberta, Canada native still has ties to Bowling Green, but is pursuing his sixth season in the WHL, going from the Vancouver Giants to the Kelowna Rockets. Leslie is just 20 years old with full NCAA eligibility, a 72-point scorer last season with Vancouver.
The Falcons sit above the NCAA hockey roster cap by one player, currently with a 27-man roster and only 26 full athletic scholarships.
Roster changes can be expected from many college hockey teams, including Bowling Green, between now and the start of class in August.
BGSU looks to improve on their fourth-place finish in the CCHA in 2025-26, also winning the program’s first home playoff series in six years in 2024-25.
Williams heads into his second season with a young, new-look team and coaching staff, beginning conference play with Lake Superior State on Oct. 24 and 25.
