BGSU hockey announced their 2025-26 assistant captains on Wednesday, following their season ticket holder event.
Senior center Jaden Grant and junior defenseman Gustav Stjernberg were both named to wear the “A” for the Falcons to join senior defenseman captain Dalton Norris.
Grant will play his fourth season in the Orange and Brown, scoring 13 points in last season and 14 in 2023-24. The centerman has played at least 34 games each of his three seasons, with less than 20 penalty minutes in each season. His best contest was a three-assist game against Bemidji State at home last year.
Stjernberg may have been BG’s most talented blue-liner through the last two seasons, dealing with some injury trouble but managing to score four goals and 12 assists last season, one less point than Norris, who led defenseman and played six more games.
Head coach Dennis Williams named two captains and two alternates last year: seniors Ethan Scardina and Ryan O’Hara wore the “C,“ and fifth-year Ville Immonen and Norris wore the “A.” They will lead a Falcon team with 11 freshmen to start the 2025-26 campaign.
The season starts with an exhibition game against Robert Morris in the Slater Family Ice Arena on Oct. 4. The first for-record games are two at Niagara the following weekend, with Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play starting at Lake Superior State on Oct. 24 and 25.
