WWII and Toledo history
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Center for Archival Collections (CAC) is hosting a seminar at the Jerome Library. Students can learn the history of Toledo’s involvement in World War II. Toledo is known by historians for its role in World War II and changing the tides of the war both overseas and on the home front, according to the BGSU alumnus, CAC. Journalist and author Vince Guerrieri will pay tribute to the late Joseph P. Boyle, Jr., a Waite High School history teacher and author of the five-volume series “Toledo’s War”, published by the University of Toledo Press. Attendees will gain insight into Toledo’s contributions to WWII, hear personal stories of local soldiers and families, learn about Boyle’s approach to researching and preserving this history and discover why Toledo’s WWII experience is relevant today. This is a great event for history enthusiasts, researchers and community members interested in Toledo’s past.
