BGSU hockey’s freshman forward Noah Morneau has been selected as this week’s CCHA Rookie of the Week.
During BGSU hockey’s (2-3-3, 2-1-3) weekend series against the Minnesota State Mavericks (4-2-4, 1-1-2) in Mankato, Minnesota, Morneau helped BGSU secure three of a possible six points towards the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) standings.
The Falcons fell in the shootout after a 4-4 draw on Friday night before rebounding and winning the shootout the next night following a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime.
Morneau scored two goals during Friday night’s contest, including a goal in the second period to tie the game at 3-3 and then another tying goal in the third period to tie the game at 4-4 and force overtime.
Over the weekend, Morneau had two goals, two points, six shots, one blocked shot and won 21 of the 36 faceoffs he was tasked with for a .583 faceoff win percentage.
Morneau currently leads the Falcons in goals with three through the first eight games of the season and he sits at fourth on the team in points with five.
