BGSU hockey’s freshman Noah Morneau was named Forward of the Week by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association for his historic weekend against Ferris State at home. This is his second straight series earning a weekly award, named Rookie of the Week, after a two-goal performance at Minnesota State.
Morneau skated at first-line center for the Falcons in the 9-5 win against Ferris State, leading his line to score 11 points of the Falcons’ 25 total. He scored three goals and an assist, landing BG’s first hat trick by a freshman since the 2012 playoffs (Dan DeSalvo against Ferris State in a 4-3 OT win).
The Windsor, Ontario native tallied another goal and assist in the second game against the Bulldogs, scoring the game opener and assisting on the fifth of a 5-2 BG win. Through the two games, he won 22 of 36 faceoffs, took 10 shots, and blocked one.
From the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Morneau has been one of the most influential freshmen and overall players in the CCHA. He leads the CCHA during conference play in goals and is tied for second in points.
His right-winger, Quinn Emerson, led the conference in assists, and his left-winger, Dominik Rymon, is fifth in the CCHA in points. All three players are top-five in conference point scoring, and Morneau has the only hat trick in the CCHA this season..
Morneau is tied for the BG lead in points and leads in goals, also top three in shots, shot percentage, +/-, powerplay goals, first goals, game-winning goals, game-tying goals, and faceoff winning percentage.
He skates next with the Falcons in St. Paul, Minnesota, for their series against St. Thomas, BG looking to stay atop the conference in their final away series of 2025.
