Arts Extravaganza (ArtsX) is an art showcase held at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) designed to showcase art that pertains to a particular theme for that year.
ArtsX is being held on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the BGSU Fine Arts Center and Wolfe Center for the Arts from 5 to 9 p.m.
ArtsX began as an open house event for the School of Arts, however, it gained a larger following after more exhibits and performances were added from the College of Musical Arts, the Department of Theater and Film and the Creative Writing Program.
A representative of ArtsX, Abigail Cloud, said anyone in the BGSU community can have their art displayed at ArtsX.
“Students, faculty and staff. It can be anyone that’s part of the current BGSU community. We do have some faculty who exhibit photography or do an activity,” Cloud said.
ArtsX is a good way for the Bowling Green community to support local artists.
“It is one of the main ways the campus community and the larger community can support the student artists because there will be sales. Those purchases support guest artists, materials, trips, all kinds of things for building the arts community here at BG. It is also a way simply to showcase the amazing world class art people are producing,” Cloud said.
A theme was added to ArtsX in 2012 and every year following had a theme.
The 2025 theme is PROCESS.
“Process in that we as artists follow our own personal processes and we have a celebration of that process. The many steps it takes to make a work, celebrating the activity of art making in and of itself and the many ways the ideas of process makes its way into the art world,” Cloud said.
ArtsX, which is free to attend, is an annual opportunity for Bowling Green artists to display their work and for the Bowling Green community to support artists and appreciate their work.
