BGSU men’s basketball (5-2) defeated the Virginia Military Institute (3-6) in their final game of the Fort Myers Tip-off tournament, winning 81-48.
The Falcons leave the tournament winning both games, getting back in the winning column with two wins in a row.
Bowling Green got the game started with three straight layups from Troy Glover II to get an early 6-3 lead.
BGSU kept the pressure up as they ballooned the early run into a 14-point lead after a Javon Ruffin three, 19-5.
The Orange and Brown kept the offense rolling into the halftime break after a Mayar Wol jumper to take a 25-point lead and end the half up 45-20.
In the first half of play, the Falcons were able to hold VMI to 5-29 from the field and 1-16 from behind the arc.
Although BGSU didn’t have the greatest three-point shooting in the first half, 3-11, they were able to get offense in the paint as they went 18-38 overall.
Sam Towns finished the first half of the game with 15 rebounds, and nine of the rebounds were offensive. He put up his first double-double of his BGSU career, with 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Falcons continued to pour it on as a three from Wol would extend the lead to 30.
The Falcons would end the game up 33 as they won their final game of the Fort Myers Tip-off with a final score of 81-48.
Wol led all scorers in the matchup with 21 points, and Towns led both teams in rebounding with 18.
Linus Holmström was the only player for VMI to get into double-digit scoring with 11.
The Falcons are back in action on Monday, Dec. 1, as they head to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on the Kansas State Wildcats with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m.
