The BGSU men’s basketball team (10-3, 1-0) hosted the Siena Heights Saints (4-8) in their final non-conference game of the 2025-26 regular season, with the Falcons dominating Siena Heights on Monday afternoon, winning 125-66.
The bench got some action on the court today, scoring 74 of the 125 points scored by Bowling Green.
Their top two scorers both came off the bench, as sophomore Josiah Shackleford scored 21 and freshman Makhi Leach added 15 points.
Leach marked a career high in scoring as he played 14 minutes and shot 6/8 from the field and three of four from the free throw line.
“You’re seeing the emergence of him, he’s learning, and we no longer treat him like a freshman,” head coach Todd Simon said.
The Falcons had a solid outing from beyond the arc, shooting 37% and helping Bowling Green succeed around the rim.
“It made them close out way harder, and it let us get to the rim way easier,” Leach said.
The bench stepping up for the Orange and Brown comes at a crucial time for the Falcons. Bowling Green will be on a holiday break due to Christmas coming up, which includes both players and staff.
They are looking to use the momentum from this win and the break to prepare for Mid-American play.
“The good thing is you are seeing the reward for effort, but it doesn’t get you any points for Miami of Ohio; we start from scratch again on the 26th,” Simon said.
The Falcons will play their second Mid-American conference matchup of the season against the Miami of Ohio Redhawks, who remain undefeated at 13-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Stroh Center with Falcon Media Sports Network’s Foster Roesti and Dawson Pelter on the call.
