After a Christmas break, Bowling Green (10-3, 1-0) welcomes the Miami (OH) RedHawks (13-0, 1-0) to the Stroh Center on Tuesday, Dec. 30, with tipoff at 7 p.m.
Falcon Media Sports Network will have the live radio broadcast, with Foster Roesti and Dawson Pelter on the call at 6:45 p.m.
Matchup History
Miami holds the lead all-time, with the RedHawks holding a 92-59 all-time lead in the series.
The last time the Falcons beat the RedHawks was in the 2023-24 season when Bowling Green traveled to Oxford, where they won 78-73.
Scouting Miami
The RedHawks enter the game riding a 13-game winning streak, one of only six teams remaining undefeated.
Led by Brant Byers with 14.5 points per game, the forward looks for early opportunities to get himself into an offensive rhythm. That rhythm has helped him to shoot 50.8% from the field and 43.2% from three-point range. Having only one game with fewer than 10 points, expect Byers to score early and often.
On the defensive side of the ball, Antwone Woolfolkleads the team in steals with 18 and is second on the team in blocked shots with 11. A versatile paint and point of attack defender, Woolfolk can cause havoc all over the court. Adding 8.5 points per game, the forward is a key piece to the RedHawks’ success this season.
Coming into the matchup, the RedHawks don’t just bring in one of the top MAC offenses, but one of the top offenses in the NCAA. Their 95.1 points per game are fourth best in the nation.
Scouting Bowling Green
The Falcons are on a four-game win streak and look to keep the momentum going.
Javontae Campbell is leading the Falcons’ offensive charge with 15.5 points and 4.1 assists. In his last two games, Campbell is averaging 13 points, 6.5 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. The guard will have his work cut out for him as he prepares for their next matchup.
Guard Justin Thomas is the Falcons’ jack of all trades player who has an effect on every aspect of the game. Fourth in rebounds per game on the team, but second in assists, steals and blocks, the guard can fill up the box score with ease. Having only three games with 10 or more points, Thomas may not put up many points, but he still makes his presence felt.
The Orange and Brown enter this game with the top defense in the MAC, holding opponents to 64.4 points per game. They also lead the nation in steals per game with 13, and of those 13, Campbell adds 3.69 steals per game, which also leads the country.
Falcon Four Players to Watch
Atlason is the off-the-bench scoring punch that the RedHawks turn to. Scoring 13.5 points per game, which is good for third on the team.
After being named to the All-MAC first team last season, Suder has come into this season shooting 57.7% from three, leading the MAC in three-point percentage. Expect Suder to get up three-point attempts early and often in the next matchup.
Towns is the veteran of this roster and is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game. Expect Towns to help the Falcon offense find their rhythm early in the match.
Troy Glover II (Bowling Green #16)
Glover will be facing a very good defensive rebounding Miami team, and for Glover, who has been finding his footing with the Falcons, he will be tasked with finding second-chance opportunities for Bowling Green.
