Break the Ice
Start off the new semester at the Slater Family Ice Arena with “Break the Ice” happening on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 10:10 p.m. This late-night skate is a part of Weeks of Welcome, which is a series of events hosted on campus during the beginning of the semester. After Weeks of Welcome concludes, Student Skate Nights are still hosted every Thursday night of the semester at the Slater for students to enjoy the winter vibes with friends. Student Skate Nights are also the perfect way to have fun or enjoy a break while settling into new classes for the semester. All skill levels are welcome to skate nights. There’s a $3 admission and a $2 skate rental with a BGSU student ID. Registration isn’t required for the event, but signing up ahead of time is recommended.

Spring Campus Fest
There are currently a total of 368 student organizations on campus, and Campus Fest is the perfect way to learn about some of the clubs and what they have to offer. Spring Campus Fest is held in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Ballroom and Multipurpose Room on Thursday, Jan. 20, from 3 to 6 p.m. There’s also a way to learn which organization is the best fit for you before attending with the student organization calculator, where the Falcon Engagement Team will match you with organizations based on your interests. Those attending Campus Fest will also get the chance to win a themed basket with fun prizes. No purchase is necessary to enter, and winners are drawn from students who completed a connection card during the event.

Game Night
Residence Advisors (RAs) will be hosting board game nights in all residence halls on campus on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 8 to 10 p.m. There’ll be games for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or looking for a challenge. Also at board game night, students will have the chance to make new friends, hang out with hallmates and enjoy a relaxing evening. This residence hall event will include snacks, and is the perfect way to unwind from a day of classes. This event is hosted by the Office of Residence Life and Student Engagement and a part of Weeks of Welcome, which are different events students can attend all throughout campus. Weeks of Welcome events will be happening until the end of February.

Celebrate with Bleacher Creatures
Join the Bleacher Creatures at a hockey pregame party before cheering on the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) hockey team as they take on Lake Superior State at the Slater Family Ice Arena. The pregame celebration is on Friday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Kreischer Sundial Freddie Room. Those attending will have the chance to be named the “True Hockey Bleacher Creature of the Game,” and winners can wear the official Bleacher Creature belt during the game, be featured on hockey’s social media and receive an in-game shoutout on the videoboard. The party’s theme is a white-out, and there will be a menu item based on the theme. Attendees can also pick up the white-out themed collection pin of the night, and each pin is a raffle ticket for the end of the year raffle party in February.
Cheer on BGSU hockey:
